Especially the first name Bird. My grandfather was Bird Fleming and no relation to the Tracy's except through his wife, my grandmother, who was a Wood. No one ever knew why he was named Bird and we just assumed it must have been a connection to Bird Tracy who we call Gilbert. Two strange things with this. 1 Gilbert (Bird) Tracy could possibly be a brother to William but how did he get the name Bird? 2 My grandfather Bird was born at Jamestown 1893 and the family migrated down to Taff and Round Mountain. Both places no longer exist. Round Mountain is under the lake and there is no evidence that the Taff community was ever there except for maps. There are at least two large old cemeteries at Jamestown. At what was Taff I know of two more from the era. One I think might be called Coffee/Garrett not to be confused with the Garrett Cemetery in Centre the other might be Daniel or Little Rive! r. On a side note when my grandfather was drafted into WW I the Selective Service changed his name to Bert saying Bird wasn't name Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
