Howard Gilbert Smith is close to the same name as Howard L & in same county. I suppose that might be the one. We are looking for the father of William K Smith (born c.1808 - d1891) who lived in Cherokee & Etowah counties. One researchers grandfather made notes that William K Smith's father was Howard L Smith. We are just trying to confirm it. Hopefully, someone who knows who H L Smith on the Cherokee census will respond & confirm if he is the same or different person. I found the marriage records for William Smith & Sarah Easterling Beaird several months ago. I have copies of the original marriage log from Walton co. courthouse.
