This came to me word of mouth from my sister, about six years ago, after she spoke with an Oklahoma family member on the phone. She was told that (and this is very vague to me ) mitochondial dna had been obtained from my great aunt's (nancy ann's daughter carrie etta, i believe) son who had been a Korean war hero (?How did the just happen to obtain it all those years later?) and that it indicated Carrie's and my grandmother Ruth's mother, Nancy Ann Grubbs was full-blooded Cherokee. This was a big surprise to the family and everyone got a kick out of it. Now I will back track and try to get something more official for you.
