I just wish I had information on John Columbus' whereabouts. Information from another cousin is that he is buried in an unmarked grave up around Oliver Springs, supposedly with Dora Alice. What we have is that he was a Baptist preacher at Mt. Pisgah Baptist church on Hen Valley Road near Oliver Springs in the late 19th century. No sign of him there in their cemetery. Also, he was living with Laura's family in 1920, whose husband was a coal miner at that time. If he was still there at his death in 1926, I imagine money was so tight that there was none for a marker. I'm thinking lately that he may be at the Miner's Circle cemetery in Briceville, I believe is the name of the town. Also, if Dora was buried in her Smith family cemetery, that may be on the Oak Ridge property now, and he could be there. I'll be glad to share whatever I have. I've found 5 cousins on here now, but seems we're all as clueless as the next. There doesn't seem to be any written history, Bibles, on this family, although they were literate for the most part. My grandfather, Arthur Lee, always claimed he was descended from a queen of England according to his father, so that tells me they had some education to know that story. If you have anything on John Columbus' death, I would love to know. I've even worked up Lizzie's family and traced them as much as I can. I've planned a trip to East Tennessee all winter, but weather has been crazy up there this year! I'm afraid I've been so into this, that when I do go to Oliver Springs, I'm expecting everyone to still be driving horse and buggies and wearing hoop skirts ... LOL! Also, there is a Rev. War Patriot in Isaac's line, just can't make heads or tails out of papers sent me by another cousin. Good luck and so great to hear from you!
