Joyce, I have also been searching for JOHNSON family from Cherokee Co., AL. Do you have any siblings or parents for Hosea? One brother of my grandmother, Mabel TANNER, was named Hosea. He was born in 1908, probably Calhoun Co, AL. Their mother was JoAnna JOHNSON, daughter of Robert A. JOHNSON of Cherokee, later Etowah, Co. I have been trying to sort out the JOHNSON family in that area but it is confusing. Robert's father was John Johnson whose wife was listed as Penatia on the census but may have been Fernaty Alford. (there is a marriage record of a John Johnson and Fernaty Alford in St Clair Co.) Another JOHNSON: Christopher Bullard JOHNSON moved to Upshur Co., TX and some of his children later moved to Parker Co., TX. One of my JOHNSON grandmothers (Sarah Adeline JOHNSON) turned up there in 1896, then later returned to AL by 1900. She was married to Silas TANNER, son of John TANNER.
