JaNelle; I don't have the complete census but I do have the Cherokee Co Census Index (& Mortality Schedule) for 1860,70 & 80. In 1870, there is a James SMITH on pg 305 of the census. In 1880, there are: J.M. SMITH, pg 376; James SMITH (5 of them); James M. SMITH (2) pg 282 & pg 402; Albert P. pg 231; and Casander pg 410. Hope this will help!
