According to Cherokee County Map produced by Dept. of Geography, College of Arts and Sciences at the U. of Alabama, Howells Crossroads is shown as being located just west of Alexis Community, which was settled before 1830 and was one of the first white settlements in Cherokee County,and south of Cedar Bluff. Cedar Bluff is located on Hwy 9 that goes into Centre. Alexis community can be reached off of Hwy 100 South in Coosa, Floyd County, Ga. between Rome and Cave Spring, GA., area is near Brushy Branch fishing area. Whole area is between AL Hwy 9 (Ga.
