    1. [ALCHEROK] birth, marriage records
    2. christine l kelly
    3. Can someone tell me who I should contact to find out if there is a birth record or marriage record that took place in Cherokee Co? Is there a County Clerk that will do lookups for a fee? I know some counties do and then some other's will do it for no fee and then other's don't do it at all. Birth took place in 1840 in Cherokee Co., marriage about 1858, possible in Cherokee Co. Thank you, Chris

    1. [ALCHEROK] John HOWARD - b. c1805 - GA>AL
    2. I am looking for information on the parents and siblings of John HOWARD. He was born in GA c.1805 and was in Cherokee Co., AL by 1835. I don't know the name of his first wife, she died in AL before 1840 as John is a widower on the 1840 census. His children by his first wife are Josephus born c.1830, GA; William born c.1833, GA; Rupus/Rufus born c.1835, AL; Frances born c.1838, AL; and Caroline born c.1839, AL. He remarried and appears on the 1850 Cherokee Co. census with his second wife Mariah(?), born c.1818, SC. His children by his second wife are Mary born c.1841 and Matilda Tabitha born c.1844. They were living in Jackson Co., AL in the 1860 census. Matilda married Robert Donald PROCTOR in Jackson Co. in 1866. I'd appreciate any information about John, his ancestors, or his descendants. Thanks, Barbara

    1. [ALCHEROK] LESTER and TANNER surnames in AL/GA
    2. Patsy Davis
    3. Hello, I haven't posted this in a while so thought I would ask again. I'm trying to find information on a couple named Charles and Fannie LESTER. Her maiden name may have been TANNER. They would have married after 1880 but before 1896 in probably GA or AL. She may be the Fannie TANNER listed as 13 on the 1880 Cherokee Co, AL census. In 1896 they were in Parker Co, TX where they were listed on the widows pension for Adeline TANNER. She was filing as the widow of Silas TANNER b Cherokee Co, AL, who was a Union soldier (briefly) and died Oct 4, 1875, place unknown. Charles and Fannie have not been located on the 1900 census for TX or AL. Any information on any of these folks would be appreciated. Thanks, Patsy -- -- http://home.earthlink.net/~davisdwd/ ICQ #15893205

    1. [ALCHEROK] John F. & Louisa (CUNNINGHAM) HOGE Family, ca. 1890 - 1920
    2. Seeking information on the family of John F. and Louisa A. (CUNNINGHAM) HOGE and their descendants. They were known to have been living in the Ballplay area of Cherokee Co. in the ca. 1890 to 1920 time frame. During this same period, John F. HOGE appears to have served as a justice-of-the-peace for both Cherokee and DeKalb County, AL as his name appears on county documents for both counties with such a title. He approved county documents such as deeds and other related documents as the approving official. The couple were married in DeKalb Co., AL on 17 March 1865. Louisa HOGE apparently died ca. 1905 while John F. HOGE died at sometime later. The family consisted of the following: John F. Hoge Abt. 1841 - +Louisa A. Cunningham 1844 - Abt. 1905 Children: Not Named (Male) Hoge Abt. 1869 - Unknown (Male) Hoge Abt. 1873 - +Mary H. Unknown 1873 - (child) Bertha Hoge 1894 - Lula Hoge 1876 - Nellie Hoge 1879 - +Henry Love William F. Hoge 1881 - Buelah V. Hoge 1886 - Maud M. Hoge 1894 - Herb Cunningham E-mail: [email protected]

    3. www.my-ged.com is an extremely fast database server especially crafted for genealogy research on the Internet. If you have spent the time and effort to develop a genealogy database on your PC and would like to share your work with others, then this is the best place to do so. No programming or special computer skills are needed! And, no gedcom is too large or too small! If you know how to make a gedcom file and attach it to an e-mail, then you can publish your genealogy now. Update your database by e-mail as often as desired. Visit my publish page to learn how. There are now 4,452,817 individual data pages on this server, each indexed on Gene Stark's GENDEX server. And, more are being added each day. Dave Wilks------ Updated October 13, 1999

    1. [ALCHEROK] Design Software
    2. Sandra Johnson
    3. Well there is now a new Web site that will do the hard part for you. Family History GedCom Search (http://www.dhc.net/~design/gedcom/indxpage.htm) is a new creation from Design Software. They are the makers of Family Census Research and the soon to be released Aspen 2000, a new database for cemeteries, funeral homes and obituary records. Family History GedCom Search is the brain child born from numerous e-mails wishing that Design Software would create Web pages. So that sat down and began to think just how they could accomplish this. And they have come up with a wonderful system. You supply them with a GEDCOM file and a scanned image (that will be used on the main page) and they will create a first rate Web site of your family history, which they will then place on their site. Best of all, this service is available for free. And once your page has been created and uploaded, it is then part of their database, making it searchable. Of particular interest to me as I inspected their currently available pages was that they had taken into consideration the issue of privacy. Those individuals who are still living are protected to a certain degree. While the names are still listed, all other information is hidden behind a LIVING tag. This is important in today's society. More and more, in the online genealogy world, this subject is discussed. To be able to view these family pages, your Web browser must support Java Applets. This is due to the fact that parts of the pages rely heavily on Java applets, especially the search capabilities. This is just one of the ways in which individuals can place their family history online. If you are not comfortable working with one of the Web Page creation programs, then this is the easiest way to create your Web page. It is likely that you have created a GEDCOM or scanned a picture. If you can do these two things and send e-mail, then you are all set for creating a family history Web site.

    1. [ALCHEROK] Hello, looking for my father
    2. CEVM
    3. Hello, I have tried everything I can think of and others have thought of. Now I am going from county to county to try to locate my father and family. Father William Austin Born in Indiana 1927 or 1928. I can get no info from Vital Records because I do not have Birth date Parents names or anything else. This was all that was on my Birth Certificate. Here is all the info I have. My name is Rev. Dennis Keith Austin I am 44 years old my fathers name is William Austin he would be around his early 70's he has a daughter name Twila she would be around 51 to 53 and a son around my age. He had Curly Auburn hair he lived in and around Monterey Park, California. He worked at a gas station. This info is 44 years old. My mothers name is Barbara Ballenger. He was not married at the time he and my mother had a relationship and when she got pregnant he left. I have no other family brothers and sisters except on the Austin side. My mother saw him again a year after I was born and he was married and had a little baby with him. If you could be of some help it would be a Blessing. Please contact me one way or the other. Thank you and have a Blessed weekend. In His Grace, Rev. Dennis Austin 7577 Margate Court #104 Manassas, Virginia 20109 1-800-650-3238 Toll Free [email protected]
