    1. RE: [ALCHEROK] Death of Hosea Johnson
    2. Patsy and Don Davis
    3. Joyce, I have also been searching for JOHNSON family from Cherokee Co., AL. Do you have any siblings or parents for Hosea? One brother of my grandmother, Mabel TANNER, was named Hosea. He was born in 1908, probably Calhoun Co, AL. Their mother was JoAnna JOHNSON, daughter of Robert A. JOHNSON of Cherokee, later Etowah, Co. I have been trying to sort out the JOHNSON family in that area but it is confusing. Robert's father was John Johnson whose wife was listed as Penatia on the census but may have been Fernaty Alford. (there is a marriage record of a John Johnson and Fernaty Alford in St Clair Co.) Another JOHNSON: Christopher Bullard JOHNSON moved to Upshur Co., TX and some of his children later moved to Parker Co., TX. One of my JOHNSON grandmothers (Sarah Adeline JOHNSON) turned up there in 1896, then later returned to AL by 1900. She was married to Silas TANNER, son of John TANNER. If any of this connects to your family, please let me know. Or if you have any other information on any of these, please get in touch with me. I know I have something else on Hosea, probably got it from you, when I find it I will let you know. Have been moving my office so things are in turmoil. Patsy Spradley Davis -----Original Message----- From: joyce stimson [mailto:[email protected]] Subject: [ALCHEROK] Death of Hosea Johnson I am trying to find anything on the death of Hosea Johnson. He lived in the Sand Rock P.O. area of Cherokee Co. in 1870.

    3. Calvin; My 1880 Cherokee Co, Census Index shows a William on is listed on pg 338 and another on pg 413 of the full census for the county. Of the 3 girls' and the Mother's names, only a Mary is listed and shown to also be at pg 413 of the regular census for Cherokee Co. Hope this helps. 2. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to do a lookup for me. The 1860 census index lists a John Jarrett in Cherokee Co Alabama in 1860. I am in need of the information about the entire household. I am trying to determine if this John is my ggg grandfather. Thanks Dawn

Peden died there in 1862 (according to a Bible which belonged to his wife's family), but I have never been able to confirm that nor find any more about it. Thanks bunches... Sue Peden Miller

    3. Mark; The Mortality Schedules were for Cherokee Co, AL only. I am sure they are available for other counties (states also), its just a matter of knowing where to look. I bought the Cherokee Co book at the Anniston-Calhoun Co Library 2 or 3 years ago as I was passing through. I think that it was compiled and published by one of the local Genealogical or Historical Societies. However, if I am in error on this - DON'T SHOOT!
