Would someone kindly give me directions to the Providence Cemetery in Forney, coming from Atlanta. Thank you.
There are two Providence Cemeteries in Cherokee County. The first, which must be the one you're looking for, appears to lie at the intersection of US 411 and County Road 101 about a mile west of the Alabama-Georgia border. US 411 runs southwest from Rome GA to Centre AL. The other appears to be located south of Centre on State Road 9 at its intersection with County Road 83. For this, follow 411 to Centre and go left (south) on SR 9. Locations of the cemeteries were obtained from the US Geological Survey GNIS website. http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form Les Tate ------------------ On Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at 09:08 PM, Wilma E. Sterling was located about 1/4 mile south of Route 9 midway between Lawrence and Farill (about 5.5 miles east of Cedar Bluff). According to some data I have, the PO was established in 1857, discontinued 1868, reestablished 1876, discontinued in 1893. Hope this helps. Am looking for information as to how death record information might be obtained in AL and more specifically Cherokee Co. Only need information such as specific death of death and the location of death for given individuals. Do not need certified copies of the death certificate. In this particular case, would like to have the exact date of death for Nellie Lowe, who died in 1951, and Henry C. Lowe, who died in 1939. Both are buried in Cherokee Co. and assumed to have died there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Herb Cunningham [email protected]

Dear List Members, I was in the genealogy section of my local library last weekend trying to study the 1880 federal census for Cherokee County, but the microfilmed copy they have was so faded and illegible that I was unable to read most of the names. Specifically, I was looking for a George Niblet(t), who would have been about 38 years old in 1880. Would anyone have access to a legible copy or transcription and be able to check for the presence of a George Niblet? Many thanks! Sincerely, --Mark
