Does anyone know who all has copies of the burial records of Perry Funeral Home of Centre? It was compiled by Perry Ann Cromer in 1997 for the Cherokee Co. Genealogical Society, however, there is not a copy at the Cherokee Co. Public Library. There is a copy at the Anniston/Calhoun Co. library and Nichols Memorial Library in Gadsden has Volume 1 (A-E). I am trying to locate another copy of the rest of the volumes so I can make a copy for Nichols Memorial Library in Gadsden. Thanks. John
Sorry, my James Stephens married Annie Louise Baker in 1915 in Cherokee Co, AL. I find no record of any DEUX or BUSH.
I noticed you posted a query for AL, and that you are researching Fieldings, found any here? thank you, cousin, KRista
Sorry I do not find them in marriage records. What time period would it have been?
Looking for information on Emory Cavin of Chesterfield, Cherokee Co., Alabama. He was born about 1900 and died about 1934. Married Minnie Lee Bowman. He had a son named Thomas Wheeler Nathaniel Cavin. Uyless R. Wallace
Is your Boman/Bowman genealogy line from Cherokee Co., Alabama? if so, I would like to hear from you. Uyless R. Wallace
According to Cherokee County Map produced by Dept. of Geography, College of Arts and Sciences at the U. of Alabama, Howells Crossroads is shown as being located just west of Alexis Community, which was settled before 1830 and was one of the first white settlements in Cherokee County, and south of Cedar Bluff. Cedar Bluff is located on Hwy 9 that goes into Centre. Alexis community can be reached off of Hwy 100 South in Coosa, Floyd County, Ga. between Rome and Cave Spring, GA., area is near Brushy Branch fishing area. Whole area is between AL Hwy 9 (Ga. Hwy 20 W) and 411 that runs from Cave Spring to Centre. Hope this is helpful to you. BP in Rome
Does anyone know or know how I can find out the present day location of Township 10 Range 10 in the 1870 Cherokee County census? It is also called Howells Crossroads, AL. Phyllis
Mona, I don't think our BATTLES is a match. The only Minnie we have was Richard James Battles daughter, and there are no HELMS in our tree. http://www.lightpatch.com/genealogy Ron Thompson At 03:55 AM 7/3/2001, Mona Herrin wrote: >I am looking for info on Richard battles and Millie Pollard. I am looking for info on Richard battles and Millie Pollard. I found where someone had submitted a querie to Cherokee Co., AL Queiries, but was unable to access the querrie. It gave a marriage date for Richard and Millie as 12 Dec. 1867. When I clicked on it tho, the page had been deleted. I think that this may be due to USGENWEb's recent revamping with Ancestry.com. Can anyone help me with this? I am looking for this info for another researcher who is new to this. His ancestor was James Pinkney Helms who married Annie Laura Battles. James P.'s parents were Michael Helms and Elizabeth Thomas. They are listed in the 1900 Census of Cherokee Co., AL in the Dixon Precinct as is J. Pink Helms and Annie L. I have obtained their death certificates. Annie Laura Battles Helms' parents are listed as Richard Battles and Millie Pollard. I haven't found Richard and Millie in the census yet. There are many Helms in Cherokee Co., Al. and I believe that at least some of them are close relatives of James Pinkney Helms. James' father Michael may be a brother to my ancestress-but I haven't found proof of that yet. They were in Campbell Co., Ga. in 1850-1880, so they must have moved to Cherokee Co. some time between 1880 and 1900. Thanks for any help. Mona
I am looking for an obit on Margaret Reaves Westbrook who died November 1931 at teh age of 75. It ran in the paper on the 13th of November. I found this information, only this information in a libary in Anniston but that is all they had. I was told the Piedmont Journal was no more but where or who would have these records? Kay, I don't have any Stewart genealogy books. Thanks a lot. My cousin was at the library last night. She found another census Jackson County, AL it list Nancy Stewart as being born in Alabama in the 1880 census. She's bringing me the copy she got. Thanks for your help. Judy
Kay, Thanks for your response. I was just hoping that the census posting 1850 Cherokee Co. AL. with Lydia Stewart's name might lead to something? It's hard to find people when you don't have much to search with. My mother's family knows nothing about Nancy or her mother Lydia Stewart. The only info they know is what I've found in census records in Jackson County, AL. and their names. It seems no one asked questions when they were small not even my mother's oldest sister still living. No bibles or ledgers that anyone still has with any info. My only hope maybe one of the Stewart's may start searching and I can find them in this way. Thanks a lot. Keep me in mind. Judy
Kay, I am looking for a Lydia Stewart b: abt. 1809 AL.(?) She had a daughter Nancy Stewart b: 1838 AL. I saw a Lydia Stewart listed on 1850 Cherokee Co. AL census on internet. These are the only two Stewart names I have. I am hoping that she lived in Cherokee Co. AL before she moved to Jackson County, AL. I hoped that maybe Nancy would be listed with Lydia on that 1850 census. Then I could possibly say that was her . I assume Lydia was married. Don't know a husbands name. These two Stewarts are on Jackson County, AL census 1860 records. Reason is Nancy Stewart married my Chapley Hampton b: 1802 KY. She was my great great grandmother. I'm trying desperately to find my relatives. I've had no luck at all. Any help appreciated.. Thanks so much. Judy
