Hello, You can write to City Clerks office at Lafayette, Al, Chambers County. Should be able to find it under search on line. Hello, One thing my cousin Faye Ingram in Chambers County, AL and I have started is a Briskey/brisky family archives. Trying to get everyone to contribute and we have downloaded a lot this last fall onto over 11 cds so far. A lot of what I took with me. And we eventually hope to make a copy available to the Historical Society in Chambers County, Valley Library, Valley Alabama. In hopes it will help other's researching family members and those who married into the family. Sharon, I have a file on a Thomas and John Smedley, but not one on the N. Smedley. The bound volumes are in the courthouse and I believe it was one of the book microfilmed by the LDS church so you might be able to get the film through your local Family History Center. Will Book 3 covers the dates from 1856 to 1872. Lynda
Becky, The file on Lovick is about one inch thick. Just thumbing through it I think it has all the probate in it also. Did he die in Mar. 1864? Lynda

Thanks, Linda. I am very curious about the three. I was told by a relative when I visited Chambers County a few years ago, there were three Smedley brothers who came from North Carolina, to Georgia, then settled in Alabama. I descend from Miles Smedley from the Chambers County area. I didn't get to the courthouse during my visit, my first. I met a lot of family I'd never met before so that took up all the time I had there. I plan on going back but right now it's hard getting out of Phoenix away from my job.
