Thank you all so much for your help on my behalf. Its possible that Ambrose Irvin was from Randolph Co. or possibly from Heard or Troup Co. Ga. since they are all close to Hickory Flat. Maybe he was just visiting the area at the time of the incident. Since it was reported in the Lafayette Sun Newspaper then it was a logical assumption on my part that he was a resident of Chambers. Would anyone know if there are sheriff or court records in Lafayette that go back to March 25, 1878? I would think the incident was pretty big news at the time for the Lafayette Sun reporter to have remembered it and referenced it in an article in 1884, which was 6 years after the fact. I was so hoping to find the Ambrose Irvin family as they were to be the key to unlocking a family mystery that has been suppressed these 100+ years in my family. Needless to say there is no one living in my family that can answer these questions. Apparently my family kept the family secret or shame, (whichever) close to their brest as my father who died in 1986 never even knew of it. Thanks again to all of you on the list and happy hunting, Mary
As of today, we are off cablespeed so please make a note and send our messages to mande@olypen.com Thanks. Mary and Ernie

Hello, I was told that there was an Indian Chief burried along the creek in back of the Old Briskey/Brisky plantation homestead in Milltown, and trying to find out what name it would have been. One of the Briskey boys. Marion Briskey married Julia A McIntosh. Her father was david Crosby McIntosh. Don't know if it could have been kin. Many died back in 1850's from typhoid. Any help is appreciated. Sandel BRISKEY-L@rootsweb.com Seattle Surnames: Briskey,Brisky,Brisque,Demastus,Sutton,Meadows,Hodnett,Moore,McIntosh,Leverett willing to share and trade

Irena J and Francis H were married in Chambers Co, AL July 8, 1839, but that is all the info I can find on Irena. Does anyone know who this Jones family might be. On the 1850 census of St. Clair, AL Francis is married to and Elizabeth. I am hoping someone has this Irena Jones in their family and will tell me Elizabeth and Irena are the same person. Well I can hope anyway. Bobby T X Nostalgia is like a grammar lesson...you find the present tense and the past perfect.
Oh by the way, cousin faye is related to Myhand family. Sandel

Sandrel, I have been to Chambers Co. three times, but only for a few days each time. I plan on retiring in a few months and hope to spend several days in Chamber Co. There are several of my mother relatives buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Harris Co., GA & Mt Hickory in Chambers Co. Some of the names that we are searching are: WALKER, SATTERWHITE, DANIEL, MYHAND, BLANKS, SLAYS, BROOKS ETC. Thanks, Thad in NC
Many thanks to Sandel DeMastus!!! She has transcribed and shared with us the Briskey Family Cemetery one mile south of Milltown. This includes the names Briskey, Bowling, Leverett and Smith. Thanks so much Sandel!!!! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/al/chambers/cemetery.htm Debra Crosby
Your welcome, glad to help. I think it would be nice if more people got involved. So much history being lost in the south. Sandel go to your county courthouses where old records exist. SOmetimes they have them in store rooms and not in books be sure to ask. I wish they would donate these papers to historical societies to log them. Instead of sitting in old rooms getting damp and unreadable. Kind of upsetting. Sandel
I checked my heritage of chambers county, Al book and I didn't find anything. Sorry, Sandel BRISKEY-L@rootsweb.com Seattle
