Crazy huh! I intend to go the the manager tomorrow and see what's up this is a FHC for this area. It was a young girl who took the order so I'm hoping she just don't know anything about the genealogy section. Pat, a FHC cannot order books, only film and microfische. The FH Library in SLC may have the book and a volunteer there might(?) look up the material for you. They are normally not asked to do that. Thank you, Delilah, for the lookup. It appears that Leonard H. LAWRENCE would have been my great-uncle. I'm not sure about the other two, but at least now I have some names to research. I don't know if still available. I bought my copy over 20 years ago for $28.00, which for me was a lot of money at the time. Still is on my retirement pay now. You might check the publisher, or have a book store do it for and see if still in print, and copies available. Thanks Janie Jansenius I purchased mine after reading this article last Fall. Valerie "The Valley Times-News" Lanett, Alabama http://www.valleytimes-news.com/ Copies of 'Heritage' book still available By From staff reports Staff Writer Published Friday, October 17, 2003 10:47 AM EDT VALLEY -- Those who contributed information to the publication of The Heritage of Chambers County might be interested to know that there are copies of this beautiful book still available. On Oct. 15, it went on sale at a reduced price. It's now $40 per copy (plus $3.20 Alabama sales tax, if sold to an Alabama resident, and $5 per copy if mailed; there is no sales tax if it goes out of state). The book is hard bound and consists of 302 pages of information about families who now live, or who have lived, in Chambers County, Ala. The book also includes a section telling the history of the county's communities and its churches. Many photographs are included. "This would make a wonderful Christmas present for a member of your family or any of your relatives who has an interest in family history or the history of Chambers County," says George Zachry Sr., president of the Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society. "The book has a nice index which makes information easy to find." The book can be seen at Cobb Memorial Archives in Valley and purchased there. Books may also be ordered through George C. Zachry, 2603 13th Avenue, Valley, AL 36854. Checks in payment for the book should be made payable to the Chambers County Heritage Book Committee (or abbreviated CCHBC). The regular price of the book is $64.95. "It's an excellent opportunity to buy the book at a substantially reduced price," Zachry said.
