Glenda, I don't have any additional information on the Young Stephens who married Martha Ann Elizabeth Bradley. I believe their marrage date of 1838 is from an old family bible that a relative had access to about 20 years ago. Young gives GA as his place of birth in the 1850 AL, 1860 and 1880 TX census. I had great luck with marriage records from my query on the Tallapoosa County mail list. The USenweb.com site for Tallapoosa county contains marriage records. Would suggest you check with volunteers who do lookups. Volunteers have been great! I know that my Bradleys were in Chambers county from about 1841 through 1851. And on my William Allen search...I am almost positive that he is the son of Churchwell Allen. Thanks for the help on this line! Susan Holman Dallas disdsh@aol.com
Any information about these two families would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Patricia Singleton Jandt............... Patricia A. Jandt
Susan, thanks again! I just know these Stevens, Allens & Vickers have connections - maybe lots of them. Be glad when I can research more. I really want to concentrate on my Penelope (Stevens) being a Brown and marrying a Stevens. If she were born in 1818 in GA, she could have married a Stevens in the mid 1830's. She was 25 when she married Anderson Allen in 1843 in Chamber's Co., AL. I need to get into some marriage records. How is the best place to find them? Do you know where in GA Young Stephens was born? Have we discussed Mary Ann Stephens who married Martin Vickers? Below are their children. Note one of them named Young! These Vickers lived near my Anderson and Penelope Stevens Allen. Researching Penelope Stevens, born 1818 GA?, married in Chambers Co., AL to Anderson Allen 1843 Chambers Co., AL. They resided & are buried in northern Tallapoosa Co, AL. Note she was 25 yrs old and wonder if she was previously married? Joseph Stevens stated she was of age. (No Joseph in Chambers Co at that time to be of age to be father.) One Reuben/Reubin Stevens/Stephens, born 1761 NC was in Chambers Co AL. He was in HH with Joseph Stevens in old age. Mary Ann Stevens, born 1820 & married to Martin Vickers 1836 Clark Co., GA lived near Penelope Stevens and Anderson Allen. Anderson Allen married 1886 2nd Martha G. Williams, widow of James P Williams. The Williams lived Randolph Co, AL 1880 and were surrounded by Stevens. Did these Stevens connect???? Who were their ancestors and siblings??? Be glad to share info. Glenda Simpson Lowe

I am deperately looking for my Lost James Ancestor. I don't have much information to go on what I have follows: James Andrew James, sometimes called Jimmie, Jimmy, est. b. abt. 1845 d. 1865 Civil War In 1864 married in West Point, Troup Co. GA to Amanda Burdette. Sometime between their marriage in Nov, 1864 and the time he died Amanada became pregnant with their only child James Andrew jr. who was born in Nov 1865. In her pension application in Chambers Co. Ala. Amanda was asked if they had ever lived anywhere else, her reply was yes Dekalb and Troup Co. GA. The pension application states that James died on the battlefield. I sent for Military records under his full name and was told they could not be found. There is a mention of Massenburgs Battery on the application but it looks like it may have been wrote in later. I have check this Unit and not found anything on James. I need to find any information on James Andrew James Sr. His date of birth, His parents, siblings, what Unit he was in, where and which battle he died. ===== Rose __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi - Thanks SO much for your prompt response to my inquiry. I have more information on your line that I will send to you via separate email. I had three responses on this same line which I will forward as well. I would hope that we would be WELCH relatives and WHO KNOWS ... we just might be. It is just so difficult finding the parents and other siblings of MY line and I know other WELCHs as well. IF we could find the parents and all their children that would narrow it down for us considerably. I will keep researching and hopefully we will discover that one day SOON. I am headed to MS for a WELCH reunion and hope to find a great deal more information while there. If I find anything NEW on your line I will definitely share with you. Thanks again. God Bless Us Every One - God's Peace Be With YOU. Celebrate Life! Love and Blessings, YYYYY Beverly Brown Hurt
I'm looking for any information about William Welch (c.1795 GA. - after 1826) whose wife's name was Mary. I don't know her maiden name but have it that she was born abt. 1795 in SC. and died after 1826. The only of their children of my knowledge as follows: James Russell Welch; b. 1826 Baldwin County, Georgia d. 20 Sept. 1863 in battle at Chickamagua, buried there. married: 11 Nov. 1847 in Tallapoosa Co., AL. Ref: Bk. "2" Pg. 298 wife: Elizabeth E. "Bettie" Goss; b. 9 July 1826 in GA. d. 29 Oct. 1885 in Chambers County, AL. buried in the Paul P. Sims Family Cemetery at 4520 County Road 121 which is near Shiloh, Chambers County, Alabama. James Russell Welch and wife, Elizabeth E. "Bettie" (Goss) Welch had five children to my knowledge between 1849 and 1861. Think all were born in Tallapoosa Co., AL. 1) Charles William Welch; b. 7 Mar. 1849; d. 5 May 1928 wife: Martha A. Josephine Sims 2) James Alexander Welch; b. 17 Aug. 1851; d. 28 Apr. 1927 wife: Mahala A. Allen 3) Margaret Mahalie Welch; b. 7 Feb. 1855; d. unknown to me husband: James Coker 4) Joseph Benjamin Welch; b. 5 Feb. 1858; d. 5 Apr. 1939 wife: Roxanne Alice Jones 5) Thomas Jackson Welch; b. 11 Feb. 1861; d. 19 Oct. 1939 wife: Martha Ann Griffin I don't know if James Coker and wife Margaret Mahalie (Welch) Coker ever resided in Chambers County, Alabama, but records show all of her siblings were at times residents of Chambers County, Alabama, and some lived out their life in Chambers County, Alabama. Rev. Charles William Welch and wife, Martha A. Josephine (Sims) Welch are both buried in the Paul P. Sims Family Cemetery. Thomas Jackson Welch and wife, Martha Ann (Griffin) Welch are both buried in the Paul P. Sims Family Cemetery. You have far more information on Welch lineage that I have and I have wondered if the Welch names you have could be kin to the Welch family names in my file. -----Original Message----- From: Aunawares@aol.com <Aunawares@aol.com> To: ALCHAMBE-L@rootsweb.com <ALCHAMBE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 9:19 PM Subject: [ALCHAMBE-L] Eli WELCH and Sarah Ann HUDMAN Welch and ten children - Chambers County, AL >I am searching for information on Eli WELCH, born 1812, in SC and his wife, >Sarah Ann HUDMAN Welch, born 1819, in Greene County, GA.
