    3. Delilah, Do you know how large this book is? I have ancestors at Antioch, and Milltown. My Grandparents, went to Antioch church, and so did my GGrandparents. My GGGGrandparents, GGGrandparents, and GGrandmother, are all buried at Milltown cemetery. Does it just list who is buried in these cemeteries? Places for sale included the Gamble place, the Rspberry Place, Herren place and Garlington place, as well as assorted farm animals and equipment. There are several pictures of farms from a distant perspective as well. My guess is that it is around 1900. The Legion was organized at Montgomery June 25, 1862, and consisted of five battalions one of which was mounted, and being detached in a short time thereafter, became part of the Tenth Confederate regiment. Lieut commanded the Second battalion, six companies. Colonel Bolling Hall, Jr. of Autauga, and Major W. Stubblefield of Coosa; the Fourth battalion was commanded by Major John D. McLennan of Barbour. The legion proceeded to east Tennessee, nearly 3000 strong, under its commander, Col. Hilliard of Montgomery. Proceeding to Cumberland Gap, it was part of the force that besieged that position. In October the legion was a part of the force that occupied Kentucky, a fatiguing march. It passed the winter and summer following in east Tennessee during which time Col. Jack Torrington of Montgomery (of the first battalion) succeeded Col. Hilliard, and in April 1863 it was attached to Gen. Gracie's brigade. The legion was in the great battle of Chickamauga, and left more than half its number on the bloody field, and 81 balls perforated the flag of the Second battalion. Moving into east Tennessee, Col. Torrington having resigned, the legion was divided into the Fifty-ninth and Sixtieth Alabama regiments, and Twenty-third battalion, at Charleston, Nov. 25, 1863. The Fifty-ninth was at the investment of Knoxville, and the fights at Dandridge and Beene's Station, with some casualties, especially at the latter. In April 1864 the regiment reached Richmond, and shortly after took part in the battle of Drewry's Bluff and the fight with Sheridan, losing largely in casualties in the former. From June till the March following, the Fifty-ninth was in the trenches of Petersburg, or in the numerous fierce conflicts at the dank and rear of the army, losing a number at Hatcher's Run and White-oaks Road. As part of Gordon's corps, Bushrod Johnston's division, the regiment was engaged at Appomattox, and there surrendered. Hilliard’s Legion enlisted men that were over 35+ years, these men were possibly Indian Wars or Mexican War Veterans, while the 59th Alabama Infantry enlisted young boys under 16years. 2nd Battalion of Hilliard’s Legion Company A The 2nd Infantry Battalion was organized with six companies at Montgomery on 25 June 62. It was consolidated with the 4th (artillery) Battalion and designated as the 59th Infantry Regiment at Charleston, TN, 25 November 1863. 1. Thanks for your e-mail
    2. Ralph Simpson
    3. Your Thanksgiving was much like ours. LeAnne flew in from California and Eugenia and Rob drove up from Kansas City. As Rob's parents live here in St. Cloud, they joined us for Thanksgiving Dinner. We pig-ed out......much like we do each Thanksgiving! I am sorry to learn about the death of Rochell's wife, Monia. I just read her obituary in the O'Donnell Index. She was truly blessed by living for 94 years. In addition, I spoke with my sister Mary a couple of days ago, and she told me that both Rochell and and Monia were buried in the Plainview Cemetery--as well as O'Dell's parents. I am sure that Mary and Sug told you we have relatives buried there, too. Our grandfather (Milton McNeil Simpson) is buried there, and so are some of the Beach family members. One of Milton McNeil's sisters (Amanda) married George Beach, and they moved to the Plainview area in 1902. My grandfather and grandmother moved to the area in 1908. Relatives of the Beach family later married up with the Rains and the Thompsons and other families, and because of that Red Rains and Carole Ann Thompson were/are my distant cousins. If memory serves me right, Daddy told me the Beach family donated the land for the cemetery. I would be interested in learning when the Howard and Gray families moved to West Texas. Did you know there is a web site where you can find who were the original land owners in Lynn County? I haven't been able to find similar web sites for Dawson or Borden County. Carolyn Fannon sent me an old photo album of pictures I took during our Senior year. I had completely forgotten about the album. When Ginny and I first arrived at the Community Center, we went around and viewed the pictures that were on the walls. When I saw the pictures, I was puzzled by how well I knew the picturres. But I couldn't understand why. Then when I received the album, I remembered. To make a story short, I removed all the pictures, and I am in the process of sending them to classmates who were part of the picture. I will be sending some to you. One picture, in particular, was an outing our class had at McKenzie State Park in Lubbock. You two were talking to each other and behind O'Dell was Myra Brooks. I have blown up the picture and will be sending you a copy. If you will send me the address of the Sutton's son, I could send him one, too. Do you think he would want a copy? Miss Brooks couldn't have been more than four or five years older that our classmembers when the picture was taken. I would like to write the Sutton son as Myra Brooks was the reason I got my college degree in business education and enjoyed teaching business subjects for 35 years. I always got an "A" in her class--in typing as well as in accounting. Also a picture I am sending you is a picture of Mrs. Gray, Mrs. Vandivere, and Mrs. Bolch. It is a very good picture, I think the pictures shows how much Sallie and Mrs. Gray resemble each other. It you don't want the pictures, perhaps you could give them to your children. The pictures were when you two were approaching adulthood and possibly strongly committed to each other. I have blown up one picture of the senior class play--the one when everyone is on stage at the play's end. I can identify everyone in the picture except one male. I don't know if it is Buddy Veach or Carl Copening. O'Dell you were in the play. Do you remember if Buddy was in the play or was it Carl? ALSO, DO EITHER OF YOU REMEMBER THE TITLE OF THE PLAY? IF SO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE TITLE. A big hug to each of you. Take good care of each other and treat yourselves to everything that is wonderful. You deserve only the best. May God continue to bless you two abundantly Ralph

    1. Tutt/Wright in Chambers Co., AL
    2. There is a James Tutt in Chambers Co., AL, on the 1840 and 1850 censuses. The 1850 census shows he and wife Elizabeth were both age 60 at that time and both were b. SC. A Joseph Holt (18, b. SC) was also in the 1850 household and three adjacent households included Holt families. The info below shows that Elizabeth's maiden name was Wright. It also names a Benjamin Tutt whose relationship to James Tutt is unknown. Any help identifying these Tutts will be appreciated. Gary Tutt Denton, TX ------------------------------------- Abstract of Chambers County Alabama Will Books 1 and 2 by Nell Orr, p. 55 "p. 226…Francis Wright's Will. In right mind and sense.
