Evelyn, Again, thanks for your response. I look forward to receiving a copy of the 1880 census for Samuel Penland. There is a Myra E. Penland who married William Harris Graham. I suspect she may have been Samuel's sister. She was born Nov. 24, 1832 (two years prior to Samuel) and died May 18, 1921. I have not seen her obit...but it may make mention of Dorcas. She is buried in Carmel Presbyterian, Cherokee Co., Alabama like Samuel. Laura
