    1. [ALCALHOU] Moores and Elliotts in Benton, 1830s
    2. Samuel and Anna Moore and Jacob G. Elliott were in Benton County, AL, in the mid 1830s. Samuel (b. SC, c. 1797) was a Baptist Minister and he married his daughter, Mary, to Jacob Elliott (b. c. 1816-18) there in 1836. Before 1840 both families were living near Delta in Randolph (area now Clay) County. Samuel was the Minister at the Shiloh Church at Delta for many years. Around 1848, the Elliotts moved from Randolph toward AR, but in 1850 they were living in Tippah Co., MS. Tradition has it that Jacob was from TN and was of Cherokee blood. I suspect that he was the son of a William Elliott and grandson of an Archibald Elliott from Chester Co., SC. This William Elliott appears to be in the middle TN counties of Jackson and White in the 1820s. Surely this Samuel Moore and Jacob Elliott were connected to other Moores and Elliotts in this area. Does anyone know of a connection or anything about their backgrounds? Paul R. White WhitePaul@aol.com
