I am looking for information on the following people that lived in Calhoun County. Leland Swink joined the Confederate forces with other men from Calhoun County.( 50th) He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamagua , supposedly died at a military hospital and was buried in a nearby cemetery. Would like to have information about him, he is my gggrandfather. Jonas Swink was a traveling preacher. He died in Calhoun County in about 1879 and is buried at 10 Mile Island Cemetery. He was the son of Leland Swink. Sargent Griffin lived in Calhoun County, and I was told by my aunt that he owned a plantation in the County. I also believe he may have given land to a church there. Maybe land for a cemetery. He is the father - in - law of Jonas Swink. He was also a descendant of William Griffin of the American Revolution. Emily Griffin Swink Jowers. This is my ggrandmother. I believe she may have been born in Calhoun County. She married Jonas Swink and had 3 children. Leona and Leland were twins, and they had a younger brother named Avery. After Jonas died, she married Clem Jowers. They had 2 daughters Clemmie and Maudie I believe. She is also buried at 10 Mile Island Cemetery by her 1st husband Jonas Swink. If you know anything of this family, I would greatly appreciate you sharing the stories with me. Many thanks, Prescilla Sanders Perryton, Texas
