Note-I am having problems posting, so please excuse if you are getting multiple copies of this. Paul Betty, Thanks for the reply to my query. I am somewhat familiar with your Moses Elliott and, for a long time, I suspected that he was my Jacob's father. But now feel otherwise. I assume that you know Herman L. Mingee Lee. He has done a lot of work on your Moses' line and he recently sent me a copy of his research data. I think that my Jacob Elliott must have been connected to an Elliott who was passing through the Benton (now Calhoun) area on their way from (possibly) Mid TN to the West. I believe that an Archibald and a William Elliott passed through Benton in the 1830s. I know that Jacob left Randolph County, AL, in c. 1848 for AR and in 1850 they in Tippah Co., MS. His wife, Mary Moore Elliott, died in AR in 1854 (apparently at childbirth). Jacob then came back to MS (Itawamba) and married a Lydia Ashley, and in 1860 they were in LA (Winn Parish). I lost them after that. As I said earlier, I believe that Jacob possibly was the son of a William who was the grandson of an Archibald Elliott who had settled on Fishing Creek, Chester Co., SC, in the mid 1700s. Jacob was supposedly of Cherokee blood. >From your research, does any of this sound familiar to you, or anyone? Paul WhitePaul@aol.com
