I believe that my g-g-grandfather, James Henry Awtrey, may have been a delegate from Calhoun County (which was in the Thirtieth District) to the Alabama Constitutional Convention held at Montgomery from November 5 through December 6, 1867. (This Convention drafted the 1868 Alabama Constitution, the fourth Alabama State Constitution.) A James H. Autry is listed on the Alabama Legislature website as being a delegate to this convention, and my James Henry Awtrey was a resident of Calhoun County during this timeframe. The Alabama Legislature web page listing the delegates to this convention can be found at:http://www.legislature.state.al.us/misc/history/constitutions/1868/1868delegates.htmlDoes anyone have any suggestions as to how I can find out more about the delegates to this convention, or about the convention itself? Thanks in advance for your help.Phillip Awtrey - ------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages & get email alerts with Yahoo! Messenger.
