    3. I'm looking for the place of residence in South Carolina for this Isaac Allen Family (see below). I would appreciate any information on ANY ALLEN family in Benton Co. (Calhoun). I have been sorting them out and have done a good bit of work on it. I have managed to get one family (not mine that I know of)back to South Carolina and have found a maiden name on that line. There may be as many as 3 Allen Families in Benton. Of course they may connect and I can't prove it. Appears on 1840 Census Benton Co. (Calhoun), AL. 1M 10-15, 1M 15-20, 1M 30-40, 1F 5-10, 1F 10-15, 1F 30-40. Appears on 1850 Census Benton Co., AL. 29th Sub Division, 13th day of Nov 1850, Spartan Allen, Asst. Marshall. McBee and Sarah Jane Allen. Book J. - pgs. 216-217-218. Resigned guardianship of children because he was unable to handle it. Their Uncle Jesse McBee was appointed their guardian. Next a petition was filed by Uncle Samuel B. McBee 28 Feb 1866 and he became their last guardian. Betty in Houston

    2. D. Scott Dingler
    3. Could someone please advise me where to look for tax records in Calhoun,Anniston,AL? Has anyone done any research at the courthouse there? I wonder if you get an open door or if they prefer you not come around? You know every one is different. I will list what I will be looking for and maybe some of you can help me out on where to go looking. Deeds, wills, tax records, school enrollments, obits, marriage records, divorce records, old newspapers, etc. Does anyone know what type of info the library can give to me? I need all the help I can get. I will be there all of next week,I don't want to waste any time running all over town. I have sat down and made out my lists of who & what I am looking for. Now I just want to be sure to go to the correct place. I also would like to know if anyone knows anything about the hotels there. I don't want to stay in one & my car come up missing. Is there an area of town to stay AWAY from? Any good restaurants? Any assistance will be deeply appreciated & accepted!! 1. [ALCALHOU-L] ALL SUBSCRIBERS - Blocking Attachments and HTML
    2. D. Scott Dingler
    3. The following was sent to all Listowners at Rootsweb. D. Scott Dingler Listowner Hi, folks -- Well, it took almost two months longer than expected, but we're right now installing a SmartList hack that blocks file attachments (including VCARDS), HTML messages and enriched text postings. Sorry about the delay: things have been crazy around here. This note is to let you know how it works. When a poster sends something to a mailing list written in HTML, or with a non-plain-text attached file, the list server will send the poster's message back to them, with a note at the bottom explaining the plain-text requirement at RootsWeb. A COPY OF THIS REJECTION MESSAGE WILL BE SENT TO YOU AS WELL! That's because the poster may write back to you to complain or to ask for help, and it can be pretty confusing if they write a reply to a message that you never saw. So when you suddenly start getting messages from YOURLIST-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com, quoting some ungodly HTML mess that you never saw before, don't be alarmed. :-) It just means the list server is rejecting a MIME message that was sent to your list, and that you may get a response from the poster. This change is not currently something the listowner can turn on and off. Attachments will be blocked from every list alike. This might not be to the taste of some listowners, so we'll consider closely whether it would be safe to make it an optional setting. Thanks to Marc Nozell for finding the SmartList patch that was used as the basis for this fix! Regards, Tim Pierce RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative volunteer sysadmin and general hacker
