I'm still researching all ALLENS in Benton Co., AL before 1860 who came from South Carolina. I have collected a good bit of information on all the Allens who were there regardless of where they came from and I'm willing to share. I'm particularly interested in the family of Isaac Allen who was on the census in 1840 and 1850. Allied families were Muckleroy, McBee, Wells. Betty Stokes in Houston

I made a copy of a marriage license for one of my Reidinger ancestors in Calhoun Co., AL. However, above this copy is one of: Elijah RHODES and Edna G JENKINS (at least it looks like Jenkins). The license was dated April 2, 1861 and they were married on April 4, 1861 by Joel T. Black, JP. JENKINS is my maiden name. We know very little about my great-grandfather Levi JENKINS, born in 1855. Could this be kinfolk? Does anyone have any information on this license? Is the Edna a JENKINS or not? Thank you for your help. Keitha in AL

I think you are in "Digest mode" and you should change to "Mail mode". A brief definition of both and directions on how to change modes are listed below. You must first unsubscribe from "Digest mode" then you must subscribe to "Mail mode". Let me know if this helps. Aloha; Debbie When in "Digest mode", several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message. When in "Mail mode", you will receive every posting made to ALCALHOU as a separate e-mail as the messages are sent out. The directions on how to change to "mail" mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe to "Digest mode". Send a message to: ALCALHOU-D-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command "unsubscribe" and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe in "Mail mode". Send a message to: ALCALHOU-L@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command "subscribe" and no additional text. 3. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to ALCALHOU-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. 4. If you have any questions or problems contact: D. Hi I am looking for information on Felix Foster who we are told was once the Mayor of Anniston possibly around 1884, is there a way to check this out.? A family relative has a clock from the courthouse with that date on it and I was told that at one time his picture was hanging in the courthouse but dont know if it is still there. This family is one of my really big brickwalls. Felix is supposed ot have at least 2 daughters one by the name of Elizabeth Minnie(b abt 1869) who married Archie McReynolds and another daughter who was called "Tiny" who died abt the 1960's and was in her 90's at the time. We believe Tiny was married to a Lockridge. Elizabeth had a daughter by the name of Martha Norman McReynolds who married Samuel Moore, they lived in the Tuscaloosa- Birmingham area's. Smauel died abt 1924 and Martha died in the 50's. These are my mother in laws parents and she has very litttle other information on them. If there is anyone out there with any info I would be so very glad to hear from you. Thanks Janet L Cook Mary Esther Fla.
