I am seeking any information on F.Moses McCULLERS, Private in Co.E, 30th Alabama Inf. Regiment. He enlisted March 6th in Calhoun Co. AL, was mustered into Confederate Service at Camp Curry,Talledega, AL on March 29, 1862. Was killed in 2nd Manassas Battle. F. Moses was the son of Moses McCULLOUGH. Moses and F. Moses according to family lore, came from Scotland to Texas in/abt. 1837. From Texas they came to AL. There were two other known siblings of F. Moses: James and Charlie. Birthplaces and dates of birth for James and Charlie are not known. F. Moses was married to Pamelia McGRAW, daughter of George McGRAW and Dicey Malone McGRAW. She was possibly born in SC, but that is not known at this time. The son of F. Moses McCullers and Pamelia McGraw was JAMES DUDLEY McCULLERS, b. 1860, Selma, DALLAS CO. AL. d. 1939 Calhoun Co. AL. Information on any of the above will be greatly appreciated. Arlene Hampton

Greetings! I am trying to find some information on a possible sawmill accident in or around Anniston in late 1900 or early 1901. Family lore has it that my great grandfather was killed is such an accident. His name was Frank E. RORK. And suggestions as to how to track down this information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Vicki Rorke shaymac@gvn.net
Samuel A. PARKER born ca 1838 Georgia (both his parents born S. C.) wife Anna lived with their family in Cleburne Co, Ala 1870-1880. Also Samuel NOBLIT (variations Noblet/Noblett) born ca 1794 Spartanburg S. C., migrated with wife Catherine b ca 1803 S. C. and kids, to Benton Co, Ala in 1840 and 1850. By 1860 in Calhoun Co, Ala and 1870 in Cleburne Co, Ala. With counties changing in that part of Alabama, they may not have moved at all (from 1840-1870). One of his daughters married a son of (above) Samuel A. PARKER. Samuel Noblitt born ca 1794, was a probable son of Revolutionary War vet and pensioner, Samuel Noblet born 1744 Chester Co, Pa., came to S. C. late 1700s.
I am looking for any information on Jonathan CRANKFIELD, b. 26 November 1802, Fairfield Co. SC, d. 24 February 1875 in Calhoun Co. AL Buried, Crankfield Rose Garden Cemetery, Chosea Springs, Choccolocco Valley, Calhoun Co. AL. It is my understanding that a Jonathan/Johnathon CRANFIELD was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga and died from that wound. Record Rolls of John A Averett's Independent Infantry Company at Alabama State Historical Society show that he enlisted 15 May 1862 in Calhoun Co. AL at the age of 18. His name is given as John Crankfield in this record. I would appreciate any help in determining the correct date of birth if the above two individuals are one and the same. If anyone has any information on whether the Crankfield Rose Garden Cemetery in Calhoun Co. AL has been charted, I would certainly appreciate information on the person I may contact for those records. Thank you. Arlene Hampton

I have relatives buried there, but have never been up to the area to try to find their graves. I too, would be very interested in knowing about the history of the place, and the people who lived in that area. The surname I am looking for at Chosea Springs is CRANFIELD/CRANKFIELD, & possibly Mount, McCullers/McCullough, Malone and McGraw. Any information appreciated! Arlene Hampton
Does anyone have any history on Chosea Springs Cemetary and the people that are buried there? I'm especially interested in hearing about the settlement of that region and the families that lived out there. Has anyone noticed they put a Chosea Springs Cemetary marble sign up in the wrong place? They put it on an empty field next to the church, not back in the woods where the cemetary actually is. Thanks Stephen Forsythe
