I don't know about turning papers over to the Historical Society, but I do know they threw two dumpsters of original documents away. One dumpster was salvaged by someone who understood the value of the documents to genealogists. Thank God for this person. He is cataloging and copying the information and making it available to researchers. My reasons for these questions are also twofold: We visited the courthouse about a year and a half ago and were told that all the old records of any kind had been turned over to the Historical Society (located next door to the present newspaper.) >>
