    3. Hi all, I am researching the THOMAS and associated lines who settled the area on the East side of the Conecuh River called Thomasville ( later called Inverness) in 1837. My brick walls are the WESTs, BOSWELL's and The parents of James and Mary (WEST) THOMAS. I descend from his son, James D. THOMAS b. 1808, SC was married to Catherine (?) ca. 1830. I would love to hear from anyone who might have knowledge of this line. THOMAS - Pike/Bullock Co, AL (Possibly Barbour as well), Horry Co., SC, NC WEST- Pike/Bullock, AL, Horry Co., SC, NC MORRISON- Bullock/ Barbour Co's., AL SELLERS- Pike/Bullock Co., AL, Horry Co., SC JENERETTE- Pike/Bullock Co., AL, Horry Co., SC GILMORE- Pike/Bullock Co., AL BOSWELL- Pike/Bullock Co., AL, SC One of James D. Thomas' son was Asa THOMAS who married Sarah Elizabeth MORRISON of Barbour Co., AL. They had two children: Alonzo (my great-grandfather) and Edward who were put under the guardianship of their great uncle Wade THOMAS. I would love to have ideas on how I might find out what happened to Asa and Sarah who were living in Farriorville. Asa was supposedly a fairly successful businessman there...but I have not proven this as fact. His father and mother James D. and Catherine ( who were living in Union Springs in 1861) as well as his grandfather James THOMAS, also dissapear about the same time (1864) ...around the beginning of the Civil war. I understand that there was a small pox epidemic in the area about that time...I would like to know more about what happened to them. Suggestions are most welcome. I am not able to make a trip to the area anytime soon.
