Those were the words of Charlie Philips, President of Mid-State Land and Timber Col, who owns Sedgefields. Phillips' office is in Meridian, MS. "We have contemplated selling Sedgefields but we have not signed any agreements," Phillips said. "We are looking at the possibility. We are always looking at our investments to see what we need to do. We are reviewing whether to own and operate or sell." Asked who is in charge of the 13,000 plantation at this time, Phillips said Mark Gregg and Nan Sweeney are seeing after the day-to-day chores. Paul Broadhead, Sr. purchased Sedgefields in 1996 and at one time was considering using the property as a resort that would have attracted corporate business people to the plantation. Apparently those plans did not materialize. There have been many rumors about the sale of the property. Some auction companies have been in conversation with Mid-State but nothing has been signed officially.
