    1. Re: Look-up request

    3. Look-up needed if anyone has the resources out there. (1) I am looking for a group of Thomas families living as neighbors on the 1870 Perot, Bullock, AL cencus. The head of households are: 1. James THOMAS 2. James D. THOMAS 3. Wade H. THOMAS 4. John F. THOMAS 5. William THOMAS I am looking for the particulars of these households. Looking for Asa G. THOMAS in one of the households...he may possibly be married by this point and have children. I would like, if possible to have the particulars on all of these THOMAS families. They are all related and by 1880 most have moved on the AR. I am trying to determine what happened to Asa G. THOMAS and his wife. In the 1880 Sebastian AR census. My ggrandfather Alonzo H.THOMAS and his younger brother Edward are living with their uncle Wade H. THOMAS. Asa G. Thomas and his wife are nowhere to be found. (2) Does anyone have access to marriage & death records to see if Asa G THOMAS and his wife (possibly Elizabeth Morrison) married and or passed away in Perot, Bullock , AL? Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated. I just received the name as Asa THOMAS as the probable father of Alonzo. This has been a brick wall for 10 yrs. I will gladly pay for copies and postage of anything found. Thank you and may you all have a happy, healthy, and wisdom filled New Year. 1. Nathan O' Neal Glover
    2. Hi all, Merry Christmas. It has been a very exciting year for me. I finally found the grave of Nathan and had it marked with a CSA marker. As I signed the form I noticed that it was exactly 121 years from the day he died in Union Springs. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Gray Funeral Home did an outstanding job of putting up the marker. Now. Do any of you have CW veterans with no markers. If so you can have them marked. I have also found Nathan's brother Andrew J. Glover buried at Rock Mount Cemtery in Barbour Co. and Gray's will be placing his marker also. The total cost to me was $50.00 to Gray's for erecting the stone. If anyone has any info on the Glover family in the Barbour/Bullock/Henry/Geneva County area I will be most grateful to have it. Merry Christmas, Margie in Memphis

    2. Hello: I'm seeking information on the decendants of Daniel and Nancy Black Graham, the Rumph family of Perote. 1. Daniel and Nanacy Black Graham, 1835+
    2. Hello: I'm looking for information on Daniel and Nancy Black Graham who moved to Macon from Cumberland North Carolina in 1835. There children were Christian, Archibald, Nancy, Jr., Daniel, Jr., Catherine, Duncan and Neal. Daniel died I believe in 1835. Archibald was killed in Tennesse during the Civil War in 1862 or 1863. Neal was working as the overseer on the Thompson plantation according to the 1860 Macon county census. I know there are decendants still in the area and that one had the family Bible. I believe her name was Betsy Rumple and she lived in Perote. I would appreciate any information or leads. Thanks for your time, JoAnn

    1. Early Churches
    2. Hi List, This is a rephrasing of an earlier question, since I apparently did not make it clear what I am looking for. Around 1825-30, a large contingent of Scotch-Irish Presbyterians in SC broke from the church, mainly over the issue of slavery (after the SC legislature voted in favor of it.) Many of those opposed went to Illinois & Ohio. This also coincided with the opening of Alabama territory due to the Removals and many of these families who were in favor of States Rights and/or slavery migrated to Alabama. Both groups established churches wherever they settled. Some of these churches actually changed denomination due to a shortage of preachers in the wilderness. In later years, especially around centennial celebrations, many churches published a church history to commemorate their founding. I have purchased a few of these from some churches and they are invaluable little tools in family research, since the information contained therein was mostly contributed by descendants of early members and contains a lot of personal details not always found in the archives of church headquarters. My question: Does anyone know of any of these booklets having been published by any of the churches in the Union Springs area, or can you furnished any addresses so that we might write directly to the church? I am particularly interested in the early Presbyterian churches. Thank you, Evelyn Leslie

    1. Re: Midway Cemeteries in 1850-55?
    2. HD Norman
    3. Cindy: Many families buried in family plots around 1850. I know of two cemeteries in Midway of a fairly good size. One in town, next to the Baptist Church, the other between Midway and Hurtsboro called Fellowship Cemetery. I have a copy of Fellowship, but not the Baptist Cemetery. You can view it on line at the Bullock County USGenweb site.
