If you sent me a link to your Alabama genealogy personal page or any other Alabama URL's, would you check to see if they are on my website and if not, please re-send them to me? Hello: I have been told that the surname list for Pike County, AL. Obit's at this site http://www.intersurf.com/~johnjanr/pike.html has not been activated at this time. To get around this put in your surname and change the period from month to SEVERAL EONS and that will bring up all the obit's with that surname. Happy Hunting, Patsy
Hello: If you have not checked out the Pike County Obit section lately at http://www.intersurf.com/~johnjanr/pike.html Take a look you just might find someone you are looking for. If you have any Obit's to share please do. Patsy

Dear List, Called vital records and according to the person that I spoke with, the rate is still $12.00. The $22.00 refers to documents received "pronto". The rate using a credit card is quite expensive...between 30 and 40 bucks. Relationship now applies where it didn't in the past, but there is no documentation so I don't know where that goes. To me, there should be a difference between documented rates and rates for purely genealogical purposes. I am a native Alabamaian ?, but now live in N.Y. State. Love Alabama, but....married a Yankee. What can you do...33 years! Wishing success to everyone doing research....let me know if I can help. Charlotte Bustelos
I am pretty sure you can go to any health department in the state and obtain a birth or death certificate for $12.00. They fax them from Montgomery to the health dept. in the county. Of course you have to be in the state to do this. All you have to do is list how you are related to you or you are doing it for genealogical purposes. You need to know the approx. date of birth or death. The URL supplied by Rod [http://vitalrec.com/al.html#State] doesn't seem to be working at the moment. This URL: http://www.alapubhealth.org/vital/vitalrcd.htm states that AL death (and birth) certificates are available by mail for $12. If the fee has gone up to $22, it happened fairly recently--I've paid $12 for every one I've received for quite some time.
