Can any one tell me where I can find some history on this unit. A great uncle, Andrew Jasper Austin, born in Pike Co. supposedly joined the AL Co F 39 Inf CSA at Phenix City and was later wounded. After the war he married Mary A. E. Pollard in Muscogee or Chattahoochee Co, GA. He then lived in Troy. I would also appreciate any info in the marriage date and place as well as any info on Mary Pollard. Thanks Bob

John Crow, the brother of my granddaddy, William Thomas Crow, and the son of W. L. D. (William) Crow and Nancy Roberts, is asking for a new date to sell the family land in Milo, Pike County. The rest of the family is already in Texas (They later settled in Natchitoches Parish, LA), but John is listed as living in Bullock County, AL. I would like any info on John and his descendants. Also if there is any info on his father, William who died in Camp Chase, OH in Feb. 1865 as a prisoner of war, I would love to have it. I have been unable to trace him beyond Pike County. He was in the 57th. AL Infantry. Thanks for any help, Ray Holt

If you know the Lodge in which these gentlemen were members, you can research the membership records of that lodge at the state headquarters (Grand Lodge) here in Montgomery, on Vaughn Road. Every Lodge filed a membership report once a year, listing every member of the Lodge by name, and the officers, and data on dues collected, etc. Many of the reports I've seen also list the members who died during that year, and the dates of their deaths. Unfortunately, the staff of the Grand Lodge cannot research these records for you--it is necessary to come to the facility and go through them yourself, or contract for someone in this area to do it for you.
