    1. HALL/DALLAS;CivilWarSoldier
    2. Kay Rockett
    3. My James C. HALL b 1824 SC or AL. His parents (names unknown to me) were supposedly killed in a tornado in Fayette Co, AL while James C. was at school, so James C. must have been reared by someone else. He named his first son James Dallas HALL, and those first two names were not in his wife's line. James C. probably moved with his parents first to St. Clair Co, AL, then to Fayette Co, AL, and then would have moved with stepparents and settled in Winston Co, MS. There is a James L. DALLAS listed among the officers of Company G, Fifth Regiment, Winston Rifles, Louisville, Winston Co, MS. This James DALLAS is the first clue I've come across as to where James C. got the name, but I think James C. and James Dallas HALL were in a different Company in the Civil War. I don't have my records in front of me. How can I find out more about this James L. DALLAS, I wonder? The DALLAS surname does not appear in censuses for 1830/40/50 for Winston Co, MS. Do any of you "know" a James L. DALLAS who could have served in the civil war, lived in the Carolinas, TN, AL or MS, or know of anyone with this surname who might have been his family? Thanks!!
