    1. [ALBLOUNT-L] Seeking Shelton Information
    2. Sue H. Jones
    3. To Blount County Researchers, I would appreciate any help that might be available in finding information about my great-grandfather, who I think was named Tom Shelton. He lived in Brooksville and had 9 sons and two daughters in the late 1800s and early 1900s. One of those sons was Patrick Henry Shelton, who married Dona Mae Hughes (second wife) and moved to Texas. He later brought Dona Mae and all their children back to Blount County and left them so he could go back to Texas and marry someone else. He died in Texas. One of the children he abandoned was my mother, Lona LaVerne Shelton Hancock. There are no records of Patrick Henry Shelton having lived in Blount County, although I know he and his family were from Liberty and Brooksville, and I did find his first wife on a list of those who died in Blount County (1906). If I can find out for sure who my great-grandfather was, I can trace other relatives. I think there is some possibility that my great-grandfather might have been Thomas P. Shelton, son of George D. Shelton and Eveline. There appears to be some question in the online records as to whether this person's name is Thomas P. Shelton or Thomas B. Shelton and whether he was married to Helen M. Brady or Helen McBrady and how many children they really had. If there is anyone who can help me unravel this puzzle, I would really appreciate it. Although I have a lot of information about Pat Shelton's second wife (my grandmother) and all their children, it's difficult to pinpoint Pat's mother and father. Also, I have the family Bible for Rufus J. and Nancy E. (Hyatt) Hughes, parents of Dona Mae Hughes and Floyd Hughes. There are many birth and death listings in it for some of the Hughes and Hyatts and also an extensive listing of the Greens. Floyd Hughes married someone from the Green family. If this would be interesting to anyone, I will be happy to forward the information. Thank you for your help, Sue Hancock Jones Lubbock, TX [email protected] [email protected]
