I have a proven connection to James Allen and wife Nancy thru their daughter Sarah Ann Allen, wife of Addison Frank Whitley. 1850 Cobb Co., Ga, pg. 104 James Allen, age 47, GA Nancy, age 44, GA James, age 18, GA Sarah Ann, age 17, GA Absolem H., age 15, GA Joseph T., age 13, GA Nancy J., age 11, GA Martha W., age 2, GA James and Nancy have not been located on any subsequent census at this time. Daughter Sarah Ann md. Addison Frank Whitley and appears on the 1860 Milton Co., GA census. The Whitley's are found in Blount Co., AL records by 1861. I found a marriage record in Clarke Co. GA for James Allen and Nancy Wood (12-27-1826). I believe James has a brother Charles who married Elizabeth Lee, daughter of Julia Lee. I've found a reference for a James Allen in the 1827 GA Land Lottery (March 16) He was living in Capt. Vinson's Dist. and received a draw in Muscogee Co., GA. I've not yet determined if this is my James Allen. 1830 Clarke Co., GA, pg. 319 James Allen 1 male under age 5 (Francis F.) 1 male age 20-30 (James) 1 male under age 5 (Unknown female) 1 female age 15-20 (Nancy) Next door is Charles Allen 1 male age 20-30 (Charles) 1 female age 15-20 (Elizabeth) (Phillip Allen appears on pg. 308, Thomas Allen appears on pg. 303 of 1830 Clarke Co., GA census.) 1840 Clarke Co., GA, pg. 208 James Allin 2 males under age 5 (Joseph T., James) 1 male age 5-10 (Absolem H.) 1 male age 10-15 (Francis F.) 1 male age 30-40 (James) 1 female under age 5 (Nancy J.) 1 female age 5-10 (Sarah Ann) 1 female age 30-40 (Nancy) (There should be a female age 10-15, based on 1830 Clarke Co., GA) (There is an Elizabeth Wood on the same page, same age grouping as Nancy. Apparently not her mother, but maybe a sister-in-law?) Charles Allen, pg. 212 1 male under age 5 1 male age 20-30 1 male age 30-40 (Charles) 1 female age 30-40 (Elizabeth) (James and Charles Allen/Allin are the only ones I found in the 1840 Clarke Co., GA census) Can anyone help with James Allen?
