Scroll down and begin reading Samuel Horton's testimony. This is the Testimony taken by the Joint Select Committee To Inquire into the Condition of Affairs in the late Insurrectionary States Basically, they were checking on the Blount Co. Klan activity in 1871. At one point, the Governor was petitioned to send in troops. This didn't happen because according to this testimony, the county officials were, at the very least, sympathetic. You're going to see how Blount Countians dealt with each other, how the "Good Ole Boy" system worked and even in a few cases, you'll see some deaths that are not recorded elsewhere. Enjoy!
