Dear List, I just received from NARA copies of Homestead App for my Great Grandfather Levi Watts, who was orignally in Blount County, AL in mid1850's and found later in Cullman CO-Winston CO AL. In 1871 one of the witnesses for Levi's Homestead App was Hiram Eberly. I found Hiram Eberly also listed on the 1880 Cullman CO AL census with wife Josephine-----(last name unknown). On the 1871 App Hiram Eberly stated his occupation at that time was Tax Assessor for the County of Cullman, Alabama. In Cullman County 1881 Hiram Eberly also made second for marriage of Martha Diana Francis HUNTER (Martha was raised by Levi Watts, her step-father, after her father Andrew Hunter was killed in Virginia in the Civil War abt 1865). I am trying to determine if Hiram Eberly was related to Levi Watts, and, if so, how? And what was his wife Josephine's maiden name? Was she perhaps related to Levi Watts?
