    3. The Southern Democrat Oneonta, Alabama Thursday, May 11, 1944 Uncle Joe Marsh, age 93, died at his home at Nectar, on Thursday, May 4th, of pneumonia. He had been ill from other complications for sometime, and when he contracted pneumonia, he was not able to overcome it. Mr. Marsh was a pioneer citizen of the Nectar community, having moved there in his early child hood. He was a good Christian citizen, and was a member of the Baptist church, and as long as his health permitted, took an active part in church work. Mr. Marsh was a truly good man and a good neighbor. He always rendered any service he could to those about him, who were in need. He had made and held many warm friends. He is survived by five sons, Bige, John, George, Eugene, and Lon Marsh, all of Nectar; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Davidson, of Birmingham, and Mrs.Rose Standridge, of Nectar; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at White's Chapel, and were conducted by Revs. J.E. Herring, Otto and Jason Faile, and Thomas Reid. Burial was in adjoining cemetery, with Drinkard, of Oneonta , in charge. (NOTE: I did not know the Nectar Congregational Methodist Church adjoining the Nectar Cem. was known as White's Chapel in 1944.)
