Well, talk about coincidences. I was just an hour ago having a virtual tour of Easley on the web site for it. it is here:http://www.800alabama.com/travel-tools/virtual-tours/ you both might enjoy what they have there. I did. Ilene, I am in Sacramento nowasays, but have lived in each and every one of those California towns you mention. My mom did waitress and fruit work to get us raised up. Lotsa moving with that too. Oh yes, there was a place in 1862 called Murphree's crossroads or corners, I forget which, where my gr grandpa and his older brother joined up with the 28th Alabama Inf. as it was being formed.
