While those of you who may have information on markers placed in Blount Co. are looking for the Mardis one, there is another "missing" marker for which I need information. It is for Moses Payne. One of my cousins stated that he had been told "Moses Payne was granted a Rev. War marker and that he was buried in Sulphur Springs Cemetery . " He went to Sulpur Springs cemetery and was very disappointed for a marker for Moses wasn't there . He believes that Moses is buried near Pine Valley . Another cousin sent this information: "The note I had found said a Rev. war marker had been put in the Oak Grove Cemetery for Moses. There is an Oak Grove Church with cemetery on AL 79 about 8 miles south of Brooksville (and east of Blountsville.) There is another Blount County Road 9 about 4 miles east of Bangor. " We would be most grateful for any information about the DAR marker for Moses Payne.
