Can anyone help me with information about my great grandfather James Blackwood (2/27/1830-May 10, 1897). He was from Blount County and is buried in Blackwood Cemetery. I know he was in the Civil War and his widow applied for a pension. How can I find a copy of papers pertaining to his service and the pension? Thanks, Billie Ann

Billie Anne, Wallace College has both the Compiled Service Records and the Pension Records for Alabama Soldiers. I know they're going to have some adjusted hours during Nov., so you might want to call before you go.
