    1. [ALBLOUNT] DURHAM family in Blount Co. ??

    3. I am trying to determine if the Walnut Grove, Altoona & maybe even Redbud area were part of Blount County before the formation of Etowah County (in 1868, according to the Handybook for Genealogists). I have located DURHAM family living in Blount Co., but then at a later date they were living in Etowah County. I don't think that they all moved & I haven't been over there to check the land records, yet. I just haven't located a map that gives these towns as being located in Blount Co. at the earlier dates. Can anyone assist with my understanding the county divisions & where the towns fell in the divisions? These Durham family siblings moved from Pendleton Dist. S. Carolina to Blount/Etowah County. Also, perhaps some of these collateral lines given below will be of importance to someone's family research. If so, please contact me. Amelia Durham married Silas Crump in 1840 in S.C.; however, she died in Jan, 1885 in Blount Co., AL. Winnifred Durham married Jesse Morton in 1835 in Blount Co., AL. Daniel Durham married Eliza Jane Jackson in 1841 in Blount Co., AL. He died in Blount Co. in 1858. (My direct line.) Stephen Durham married Elizabeth Morton in 1835 in Blount Co., AL. Andrew Jackson Durham probably did not move to the area until later where he died in Etowah Co. in 1894. His widow, Mary J., married John B. Allgood in Blount Co., AL. John Durham married Sarah Anderson Crump in 1849 in Marshall Co., AL. Thanks much for any assistance. Happy Hunting! Ray George Bryan, TX
