On the Tract Book for Blount Co., AL, pg 237, the date for Henry C Barton's cash entry is Aug 6 1836. [That 1838 date is the final settlement certificate date.] On the next line in the Tract Book [still Sec 27, T14S, R1W] is this entry: West 1/2 of SW1/4 Henry C Barton, asse, July 14, 1819. The West 1/2 of the SW 1/4 is not listed on the BLM website. [There are only 8 of the 16 "quarter of quarters" in Section 27, T14S,R1W, listed.] The BLM website does not include land aquired by military warrants. Since Henry C Barton was an assignee, this means that he obtained the land with a warrant he received from someone else. This may have been by inheritance, or by purchase. The NE corner of Henry's West 1/2 intersected with the SW corner of a part of land, obtained, Sept 1819, by Joseph Sargent [my 5G-Grandfather].
