    1. Re: [ALBLOUNT-L] Kendalville Precinct
    2. Melba Clark
    3. Sue, There is a Kendalville Precinct on the Jefferson Co., AL 1860 census. Using some of the persons listed in that precinct and BLM records for persons who bought land about 1858 or so, I have determined that they were located in T14S R2W; T15S R2W; T16S R2W; T14S R3W; T15S R3W; T16S R3W. With that many townships, it seems to be quite a large area. But in some of the townships, only a few sections near the edge next to another one were listed. Some of the persons used were: pg 669 Samuel Rogers; pg 670 Ambrose Doss; pg 671 James G. Rogers;Jesse Hughes; pg 672 James Wilson; Elijah Goodwin; Thomas Anderson; William Goodwin; Maning Goodwin (2); pg 675 Julian Nail; Luke Nail; Hope this helps, Melba ------------original Message ----------- From: "Sue Smith" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 27, 2002 6:29 PM Subject: [ALBLOUNT-L] Kendalville Precinct > Hello Everyone, > > Can anyone tell me where "Kendalville Precinct" of 1859 is located today? 3. RUBEN DIAL (DYLE) was my g grandfather and he married NANCY ANN PERMELIA JOHNSON, daughter of WILLIAM HENRY JOHNSON and LEVINA YEILDING in 1879 in ONEONTA, Blount Co., Al. On the 1880 CULLMAN cO, aL census they are living at KOENIG BEAT 3 I have not been able to find him after this. but I am assuming he died before 1884 because NANCY ANN REMARRIED to M L MILLER in Blount Co, 1884. Seems like my grandmother told me years ago that a tree fell on him. Would that more than likely have made the newspapers? The last record I can find of NANCY ANN is that she is in the household as wife (2yrs) of JOHN W GILPIN , beat# 1, Jasper, Al. 1900 census. Does anyone know where she or JOHN GILPIN aare buried? tHANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP Mildred [email protected] o.com ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. Last week I had an opportunity to visit the Blount County Historical Museum. If you haven't been there lately - there have been some changes - all for the better. The curator is relatively new and she is a star curator. While I was there a display of Native Indian culture items was put together and it is very nice. Her name is Amy and she is most helpful with every part of the museum and she has many projects planned and on-going. I know this is not research but I could talk on and on about the work she is doing. If you haven't been there lately, drop in and see what a job she is doing. Bennett Kansas City

    2. G. Savage
    3. Hi everybody, I just received a notice from our host at Rootsweb that they'll be upgrading their servers over the next few days. Here's what they say about how this will effect the mailing list: "When the time comes to move list servers, we will be halting operation on the machine to complete the move. We expect to have the machines down the least amount of time possible. No mail will be sent from or posted to your mailing lists. We do not expect to lose any messages." So, hopefully the list won't be down for too long. And on a similar topic, your list administrator has been down lately with an infected tooth, and hasn't been answering her emails promptly. My apologies! I should be back up and running soon. <g> Glenda List Admin

    1. Re: [ALBLOUNT-L] Obits, Civil War Soldiers, Blount Co. Ala. (Cornelius)
    2. Melba, Here is one of my Civil War Obits. Robin can post this on his site with the others. Robert C. Johnston, Jr. 139 Eagle Creek Drive Wetumpka, AL 36092 USA [email protected] Obituary of Benton Beverly Cornelius, Co. K, 19th Alabama Inf. The Southern Democrat Oneonta, Blount Co., Alabama March 25, 1920 B. B. Cornelius Dead News has just reached here of the death of B. B. Cornelius which occurred at the home of his son-in-law, R. E. Hale at Mountainair, New Mexico, on March 11th. Uncle Benton, as we all called him, had been in declining health for some time. A few months ago he decided to make a visit to his daughter in New Mexico. The trip was a long one, too much for the old man in his condition, and while he regained some of his strength after he reached his destination he was never well again. Mr. Cornelius was 82 years of age and had been one of the leading citizens of the county. He was in the Confederate army and made a good soldier. He delighted in attending the reunions and missed very few of them. He was a loyal member of the M. E. church, South and was always found on the right side of all moral questions. His influence was for good and the county in which he lived has been made better by having him as a citizen. One by one these old men who wore the grey are passing out and in a few more years there will be none of them left to tell of the horrors of that great struggle between the States. The deceased is survived by three sons and one daughter.
