    2. Melba Clark
    3. While those of you who may have information on markers placed in Blount Co. are looking for the Mardis one, there is another "missing" marker for which I need information. It is for Moses Payne. One of my cousins stated that he had been told "Moses Payne was granted a Rev. War marker and that he was buried in Sulphur Springs Cemetery . " He went to Sulpur Springs cemetery and was very disappointed for a marker for Moses wasn't there . He believes that Moses is buried near Pine Valley . Another cousin sent this information: "The note I had found said a Rev. war marker had been put in the Oak Grove Cemetery for Moses. There is an Oak Grove Church with cemetery on AL 79 about 8 miles south of Brooksville (and east of Blountsville.) There is another Blount County Road 9 about 4 miles east of Bangor. " We would be most grateful for any information about the DAR marker for Moses Payne. 3. I have no documentation for Williams PHILLIPS, Sr but have an indication he was born about 1786 either in North Carolina or Georgia and died about 1860 in Alabama. He married Sarah BURLESON (not sure about last name) about 1808. I believe Sarah was born about 1788 in Georgia and died about 1860 in Alabama. I think it probable that William had a brother named Samuel and possibly a brother named David. Need parents and siblings for William PHILLIPS, Sr and Sarah BURLESON. Thanks for your help. -- Bennett Kansas City DO NOT open attachments to this mail. --

    2. Summit Post Office: Using Terry's instruction to the Summit School ...{US Hwy. 231 and 278 at Rainbow X-ing, north of Blountsville. Follow US Hwy. 231 north approx. 5 miles. The old school is on the right...} you will be at a cross roads ... you are on US 231 N... to your right is Co Rd 25... going to Browns Valley. To your left is Co Rd 48. 48 takes you to Old Summit P. O. It would be about 1/4 mile to a road on your left that leads to the Summit Cemetery. The Old Haden Home is here on the corner ... left side of 48. This is what you would call main street. The Post Office was about 200 to 300 ft from the corner on your left. If you look real close you may be able so see the old building. The spring is on up the road on the left as the road turns. Back on US 231 N about 500 ft on the left is the Summit Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 3. Could use some help on the following as I do not have much time for my own family history anymore. I descnd from John Gable and Loduska Oswalt...Harmon Gable...Jacob Gable...James Harmon Gable (Carroll Co. Ga), to his son Wesley Gable who died ca. 1904 Tallapoosa, Ga. I am curious as to the Elijah Gable who married Nancy Dial 23 Dec 1875 and Harmon Gable who married Mary Ann Dial 31 Oct 1878 Does anyone out there have the background of these men? Both marriages took place in Blount County, Alabama. I figure with the name Harmon that this man descends from my Gables. Would love to hear from you about the Gables and allied families. Thanks...Melba Lowe
