    1. [ALBLOUNT-L] Unsafe Attachments: (from List Admin)
    2. G. Savage
    3. Hi Betty and everyone, I thought I'd reply to the entire list about Betty's question regarding "unsafe attachments" because others may find the information helpful, too. The problem Betty mentioned is probably related to the Klez virus. Although our discussions here on the list should be only about genealogy and history, I'll break my own rule this once and suggest that everyone take a moment and learn more about this virus. Here's a good link to information on Klez: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,52174,00.html The Klez virus scans an infected computer for email addresses, then uses those addresses to send out further copies of itself. When a server receives such a message using your (forged) address in the "reply-to" line it may then send a message to you saying that your email contained an unsafe attachment. You, of course, never sent the email in the first place; the Klez virus just used your email address to spead itself. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have the virus, but someone who has your address on their computer does. The virus targets people who use Microsoft Windows, so Windows users should make sure they keep their virus detection software up to date. If anyone has further questions about Klez, please contact me off-list at [email protected] That way, we can keep the list free for genealogy. :-) Glenda Savage ALBLOUNT List Admin Betty Riley wrote: >Hello List, >I have been getting these posts for several days now that give me the >message **OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your >mail: ATToo2o3.eml, (ALBLOUNT-L)nail,eml**,or something similiar. >I have ONLINE SCAN from McAfee so feel I am pretty safe but there seems to >be a problem somewhere. >Betty Riley >--------------------------------------------------------- >----- Original Message ----- >From: <[email protected]> >To: <[email protected]> >Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 10:00 AM >Subject: ALBLOUNT-D Digest V02 #89 > > >

    3. Hello List, I have been getting these posts for several days now that give me the message **OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail: ATToo2o3.eml, (ALBLOUNT-L)nail,eml**,or something similiar. I have ONLINE SCAN from McAfee so feel I am pretty safe but there seems to be a problem somewhere. 1. [ALBLOUNT-L] Alabama Chat, Transcripts & Queries......
    2. Jean Brandau
    3. You are invited to join us on Monday nights for an Alabama state chat: http://huntsville.about.com/mpchat.htm 9 pm Eastern; 8 pm Central; 7 pm Mt.; 6 pm Pacific Past chat transcripts can be found here: http://huntsville.about.com/library/blalchat.htm If you've never been to a chat and need instructions, just send me an email and I'll mail you step-by-step instructions. If you'd like to receive a personal reminder each week, let me know and I can add you to my private list. When you get a chance, please stop by my forum and read all the Alabama genealogy and post your queries for your Alabama ancestors. There are thousands of Alabama SURNAMES listed, so please look through to see if your "cousins" have been there and posted to you. If you want to post your own queries, you need to register first (it's free); but you can read through the other queries without registering: http://forums.about.com/ab-huntsville//messages?lgnF=y&msg=463.1 Please take a moment to browse through them and check the surnames--you might find a long lost cousin or two! You have to register before you can post. Look at the very very bottom of the page on the far right side (under the other posts/messages) and see if you're in basic or advance view. In basic, you will see at the TOP of the LEFT side where it says "start new discussion". In the Advance view, it says "post new" at the top of the left side in two places (at the very top and just under the GENEALOGY title in gray. Good luck in your searches! 1. [ALBLOUNT-L] William M. Morton and Ann Samuals
    2. Dear list members, Is anyone on the list a descendant of the William M. Morton, Jr. who married Ann Samuals in Blount Co. on Jan. 15, 1832? If so, I'd like to communicate with you about our lines. I've recently found out, with the help of Melba Lowe, that they were the parents of my gggreat-grandmother Rebecca Morton Phillips Walker. She was married to my my gggreat-grandfather, Jesse P. Phillips, who was killed in the Civil War. I just obtained a copy of their Marriage Record and would like to know more about them, especially if they spent their later years in the County and died here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
