Hello Blount County Researchers, Just added to the site: Nixon Chapel Cemetery. Nixon Chapel is about a mile inside Marshall County, but many of the people buried there have their roots in Blount County. At least two of the men in the 1907 Blount County Confederate Census are buried at Nixon Chapel. Nixon Chapel Cemetery will be included as a bonus cemetery in the soon to be published Volume 3 of the Blount County Cemeteries. The link: http://home.hiwaay.net/~bobwonda/index.html Kindest Regards, Robin

Hello Blount County Researchers...! The WWI Draft Cards for Blount County men are now complete. Single line abstracts have been prepared for every card on the 16mm microfilm for the men who registered in Blount County. When it could be located, marriage information was added in brackets...marriage notes are from Blount County, Alabama Marriages 1892 - 1910 by Lottie Painter Hudson, 1995; personal research of Blount County marriage records; and comparison to cemetery records. As far as I can determine, Blount County is the only county in the state represented with this information on line. I have noticed the birth month and days are fairly consistent with the cemetery records; however, the birth years vary a year or more sometimes....not sure why. Were some men fibbing about their ages? If anyone has a good explanation, please post your opinions here at ALBLOUNT. Here's the link: http://home.hiwaay.net/~bobwonda/index.html kind regards, robin

I am researching the South family on my husbands side. His great grandfather was Giles Alonzo South, who was married to Annie Lee McAnally. His father was Jim South (James Lonzo) who was married to Lily Mae Tredwell. I am trying to find who was James' parents, I think it may they may have been George W. South and Fannie Frances Lawrence. (But not too sure) James, Mae, Giles Alonzo, and William (Alonzo's brother) are buried in Youngtown Community (Owens Chapel Cemetary). Giles' wife is buried with their daugther in KP cemetary in Franklin County. James and Lily mae have been married in Lawrence County in or around 1898. Giles and Annie Lee were married in Franklin County Alabama. Giles had sisters and brothers: Clara, Romie, Era, and William T. If anyone has any ideas of how I can get over my brick wall or if you have any info on my families please contact me. I am also researching the Looney, McAnally, Allen, Hogeland, Swinney, Streeter, Campbell, White, Holt,Russell, Bailey Families. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Thank you Glenda for being so sweet and for figuring out this mess. You are a jewel. I just could not for the LIFE of me figure out what had happened! And thank you Randall Haney for your input. "I don't know all I don't know about these new computers" as a friend of mine likes to say. Appreciate you all so very much. Melba Lowe
Melba and Glenda, There is a virus out there that will SPAM using an infected computer's e-mail address. Some servers have software that look for patterns that resemble SPAM. When I read Melba's e-mail on the subject, that was the first thing that popped into my mind. Computers are great but they have absolutely no commonsense. When their lack of commonsense causes a problem, as in the case of Melba, we just need a nice human like Glenda to step in and sort it all out :^) You do a great service managing the Blount county list and I have had some great successes using it.
