    1. Re: [ALBIBB] Help me find a cemetery -
    2. Help! I'm trying to find the cemetery that my Great-Great-Grandfather is buried in. I have information that indicates some references as to the location, but the exact spot is not known. I would like the cemetery to be entered onto the list of cemeteries in Alabama. What I have been told and have received information on is as follows: ========================================================== NOTE FROM Carol Elliott <laart@snowhill.com> August 4, 1998 The older Harmons and Hendersons are buried in the old Sturdavant cemetery, located several miles south from Shelby 52 on Stein's Bend of the Cahaba River where the old stage coach between Elyton (now Birmingham) and Montevallo forded the river. With fear fevers, the Hendersons and Harmons moved to higher ground on Shades Mountain in the area where Hwy I crosses Hwy 13. in 1881, WILLIAM H. HENDERSON, who had more than 400 acres there, married Nancy Jane Stewart, (parents: Leven Jefferson and Mary Jane Smith Stewart from GA). Their children included Sarah Jane, Jesse Dale, Mary Bell, William Hollie, Roxie Mae, Stella, Ivy Lillian, and Ollie Evelyn. William H.'s brother, HOLLY MIDDLETON, Jr., married Mary Etta Burns in 1885 and had at least 15 children. They formed a Mormon congregation, Hebron Church, in Shelby Co, before later moving to Utah. ========================================================== Additional information: My father's cousin, Derrell Judd, from Provo, Utah, travelled to Alabama twenty-thirty years ago and was taken to the cemetery by Mr. James Ammons. I have photographs of Hollie Middleton Henderson's and his wife Sarah's grave stones. Also a commemerative CSA marker. So I know the cemetery does exist. Also, it was told to me that there were two or three headstones with names/dates and a few more small stones with initials only. Also they indicated that depressions in the ground would lead them to believe there would be upwards of twenty or more persons buried in the immediate area. Thanks for any exact directions to this cemetery and if anyone can physically locate it with GPS, it would be nice to get it added to the Register of Cemeteries.
