    1. Re: [ALBIBB] What is a Straymaster

    3. I found this by using google. In the course of his duties, the Straymaster [also called Ranger] dealt with the valuable commodities of livestock and money. Therefore, it was an important position; oftentimes a Justice of the Peace served the role. Estray laws required anyone discovering a stray animal to deliver it to the Straymaster. The animal was listed in the Stray Book, and expenses of its care were also recorded. The County maintained a yard for these purposes or placed the animals with a citizen who supported it temporarily. Upon claiming his animal, an owner was liable for accumulated charges. After a period of time, unbranded, unclaimed animals were sold and the proceeds accrued to the County coffers. At 07:45 PM 6/18/2008, you wrote: >What is a straymaster. Can anyone out there help Me.
