James died Sept. 19, 1990, and was buried at Pineland Memorial Cemetery. According to his obit his wife was Elizabeth BELCHER HORTON. The obit was probably published in the Centreville Press or the Tuscaloosa News. It did not have a date. According to Haysop, A Church, a Community, a People of Haysop Creek, Bibb County, Alabama, by Charles E. Boyd, p. 110, the parents of Elizabeth Belcher were Andrew and Lizzie (Wyres) Belcher.
