I'm guessing that unless someone wrote their thoughts in a diary, it will be very difficult for you to discover WHY someone moved. Usually, though, the number one reason was economics -- folks found a place where they could make a living or where relatives could help them if necessary. Another factor could be government land grants. Sometimes local, state, or federal governments awarded free or cheap land in order to settle a particular area. Researching the occupations of specific Rodens and researching the local history MIGHT give you an answer (but, then again, might not :) ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
