That may explain where Elizabeth (HONEYCUTT) CARDEN TOLBY died and is probably buried. Now I need to do some more research on William TOLBY to see where his family is from. Here's what I know of my Larkin CARDEN and Elizabeth HONEYCUTT... Larkin CARDEN b. 1808 Fairfield, SC d. Dec 1862 Mobile, AL m. 7 Nov 1831 Perry Co., AL to Elizabeth HONEYCUTT b. 1813 GA d. unknown. Larkin is a son of James CARDEN b. 1780 Fairfield, SC d. 1840 Perry Co., AL m. 1800 Fairfield, SC to Charity RUTLAND b. 1780 SC d. 1840. While some of James CARDEN's siblings and extended family moved to Tennessee (the ones you list in your last post), James CARDEN moved to Alabama. I'm trying to figure out if some of Charity RUTLAND's family moved to Alabama and James CARDEN followed them or if James just moved there on his own. Do you have any information on the RUTLAND family? My Larkin CARDEN died in a hospital in Mobile, AL during the Civil War (I believe from the flu rather than injuries). Larkin's widow Elizabeth (HONEYCUTT) CARDEN married William TOLBY on 23 Jan 1864 but I don't know where. I assume in Perry Co., AL, but need documents. I found Elizabeth (HONEYCUTT) (CARDEN) TOLBY and William TOLBY in Bibb Co., AL in the 1870 census with her two youngest children by Larkin CARDEN: 1870 Bibb Co., AL census dwelling #18, family #18 TOLBY William 37 M roller MD TOLBY Elizabeth 52 F keeping house AL CARDEN Julia 14 F AL CARDEN Henry 11 M AL Then I lose Elizabeth completely. Henry CARDEN (my direct line) shows up again in the 1900 Jefferson Co., AL census married with a family of his own. His wife is Laura S. LLOYD b. 7 Jun 1858 Fayette Co., GA d. 14 Feb 1929 Blount Co., AL. I was never sure how Henry and Laura met since she lived in Rome, Floyd Co., GA with her family. But this explains it. The new mystery is, why did William TOLBY and Elizabeth (HONEYCUTT) (CARDEN) TOLBY move to Floyd Co., GA? Also, I'm still looking for marriage certificates for all involved above. Are you related to this line? Do you have any other information on any of these folks? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
